The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences on Monday said Thursday, Nov. 12, 2026, is the final deadline to submit Oscars Submission Forms in the Best Picture, Animated Feature, and general entry categories for 99th Academy Awards consideration. Films will not be accepted for consideration after the deadline, the Academy said.
The deadline affects distributors and producers seeking awards eligibility. The Academy said entries in the documentary feature, international feature and short film categories are subject to special rules and that the submission deadline for these specialty categories has already passed.
For a feature film to be considered, the distributor or producer must upload via the submission website a scanned, signed copy of the Oscars Submission Form and legal billing, which the Academy described as complete on-screen credits. The deadline for submission is 5 p.m. PT on Nov. 12.
While the submission deadline is Nov. 12, the Academy said feature films have until Thursday, Dec. 31, 2026, to open in a commercial movie theater in one of six qualifying U.S. metro areas and begin a minimum run of seven consecutive days in the same theater. Screenings must occur at least three times daily, with at least one screening starting between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. daily. The six areas are Los Angeles County; the City of New York; the Bay Area counties of San Francisco, Marin, Alameda, San Mateo and Contra Costa; Chicago’s Cook County; Dallas County and Tarrant County in Dallas–Fort Worth; and Fulton County in Atlanta.
Additional theatrical requirements apply for Best Picture consideration. These include an expanded theatrical run of seven days, consecutive or non-consecutive, in 10 of the top 50 U.S. markets no later than 45 days after the initial 2026 release date, to be completed no later than Thursday, Jan. 21, 2027, the Academy said.
Submitting the confidential Representation and Inclusion Standards Entry, or RAISE, form and meeting two of the four standards is also required for eligibility in the Best Picture category for the 99th Oscars. A film’s distributor or producer may opt out of Best Picture consideration, in which case they will not be required to submit the RAISE form. The deadline for RAISE submission is 5 p.m. PT on Thursday, Nov. 12, and the platform is accessible at raise.oscars.org.
The Academy said submission forms are available at submissions.oscars.org and that complete rules, Representation and Inclusion Standards, and Campaign Promotional Regulations are posted at oscars.org/oscars/rules-eligibility. Shortlists for the 99th Academy Awards will be announced on Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2026. Nominations will be announced on Thursday, Jan. 21, 2027.
The Academy said the 99th Oscars will be held on Sunday, March 14, 2027, at the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood and will be televised live on ABC, streamed live on Hulu and air in more than 200 territories worldwide.
