Hello Games released FORSAKEN, a Halloween-themed update for its space exploration game No Man’s Sky, on Oct. 28. The update adds new traders, delivery missions, ship parts and cosmetic items.

Hello Games founder Sean Murray announced the release in a post on Xbox Wire. He wrote that the game stays in space with the new update but has become darker.

According to Murray, vessels of preserved organic matter have begun to appear in deep space, hidden in derelict ships and infested space outposts. Players who salvage these items, called mementos, can trade them to new “forsaken traders” for biomechanical corvette modules. Murray said players can change the look of an existing corvette or build a new one.

The update also adds corvette haulage missions, in which players act as couriers and carry packages. Players can build corvettes with new habs, cockpits and structural pieces.

New cosmetic items include a larva tank helmet and a larva cannon multi-tool. Murray said players can buy the multi-tool with preserved grubs.

Other additions include a minimal HUD mode for advanced players and a radial weapon select. Players can also warp from system to system by flying directly to stars they see in the sky.

Murray said FORSAKEN is the studio’s fifth major update. The earlier ones were REMNANT, XENO ARENA, THE SWARM and COSMOS. He said last month’s COSMOS update brought a large increase in Xbox and Game Pass players. According to Murray, COSMOS added discoveries between planets and let players own and customize their own space stations.

Murray wrote that the team is already planning for 2027. The post gave no details about what that will include.
