The End of the Sun launched today on Xbox Series X|S, according to an Xbox Wire post by Kinga Machowska, a developer at The End of the Sun Forge.

The first-person adventure is inspired by Slavic folklore and centers on exploring a mysterious village across different seasons and points in time, the post said. The store page shows a price of $19.99 and also lists $24.99.

Machowska said the team used photogrammetry to bring real-world objects into the game as detailed 3D models. The developer partnered with Polish ethnographic museums, including the Open-Air Museum in Szymbark and the Grociarnia Ethnographic Museum in Jastrzębia, to scan hundreds of historical objects and entire buildings. Approximately 80% of the objects in the game were scanned from real originals, the post said.

The post said historical artifacts shape both the setting and the gameplay. Quests involve interacting with traditional tools, such as a hand mill, rope-twisting devices, and a knife sharpener, and optional points in the world let players “Learn More” about unfamiliar items. The environments also support storytelling, with workshops and weaving tools used to hint at characters’ lives.

According to the post, buildings and landscapes change with the seasons and across different times in the story, and authentic outdoor sound recordings were made in all four seasons. The game features decorative details drawn from Polish culture, including bobbin lace and hand-painted floral patterns inspired by the village of Zalipie.

Xbox Wire said The End of the Sun is available now on Xbox Series X|S.
