Apple announced a new 14-inch MacBook Pro with its M6 chip on Oct. 27. The laptop starts at $1,999. The company said pre-orders begin Oct. 28 and the laptop will start arriving to customers Friday, Nov. 6.
The laptop comes in space black and silver. Apple said pre-orders will be open in 35 countries and regions, including the United States, on apple.com and in the Apple Store app. It will also be sold at Apple Store locations and Apple Authorized Resellers.
The price falls to $1,899 with education savings, according to Apple. Eligible U.S. customers can lease the laptop through the Apple Upgrade program from $38.99 a month for 36 months, excluding taxes and any trade-in credit. Apple said it also offers trade-in credit toward a new Mac.
The M6 chip has a 12-core CPU, which is the part of a computer that runs general tasks. Apple said that is two more cores than before. The company said the chip includes the world’s fastest CPU core.
Apple said the 12-core GPU, the part that handles graphics, also has two additional cores. It said the GPU delivers up to 30% faster graphics and up to 25% faster performance on AI tasks than the M5 chip. Apple said its Dual 16-core Neural Engine, a part of the chip built for AI work, is up to 1.9 times faster than the one in M5.
For people upgrading from a 13-inch MacBook Pro with M1, Apple said the gains are larger. It cited up to 13 times faster processing of prompts for large language models, which are the AI systems behind chatbots, and up to 11.7 times faster ray-tracing renders in Blender. Apple said it ran its tests in September and October 2026. According to the company’s notes, the M5 comparison for graphics used a 14-inch MacBook Pro with M5, a 10-core CPU, a 10-core GPU, 32GB of memory and a 4TB drive.
Apple said the laptop has 16GB of memory as standard, configurable up to 32GB. It supports Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 and has HDMI, MagSafe 3 and three Thunderbolt 4 ports, an SDXC card slot and a headphone jack. The Liquid Retina XDR display reaches up to 1600 nits of peak HDR brightness, and a nano-texture option is available to reduce glare.
Apple said battery life is up to 24 hours, the longest ever in a Mac. The company said battery life varies by use and configuration. It said fast charging reaches up to 50% in 30 minutes with a compatible higher-wattage USB-C adapter, such as Apple’s 96W Power Adapter.
The laptop comes with macOS 27, which Apple said includes Siri AI and other Apple Intelligence features. According to Apple’s notes, Siri AI is available in beta in macOS 27.2 in English, French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish. Apple said some AI features that rely on server-side models have daily usage limits, and that expanded access will be available for a fee in the future.
Shelly Goldberg, Apple’s vice president of Hardware Engineering, said in the announcement that the M6 chip brings gains in CPU speed, graphics and on-device AI. Apple also said the laptop is made with 45% recycled content overall, including an enclosure made of 100% recycled aluminum.
