Apple announced a new iMac powered by its M6 chip in a press release dated Oct. 27. The 24-inch all-in-one computer starts at $1,499 and goes on sale Friday, Nov. 6.

Pre-orders began Oct. 28 on apple.com and in the Apple Store app in 35 countries and regions, including the United States, according to the company. The computer will begin arriving to customers on Nov. 6, including at Apple Store locations and Apple Authorized Resellers.

The model with a 10-core processor and 10-core graphics chip starts at $1,499, or $1,449 with education savings. The model with a 12-core processor and 12-core graphics chip starts at $1,699, or $1,599 with education savings. Eligible U.S. customers can lease the iMac through Apple Upgrade from $28.99 a month for 36 months, excluding taxes and any trade-in credit.

Apple said the M6 chip has up to a 12-core processor and up to a 12-core graphics chip, each with two more cores than before. The graphics chip now has what Apple calls Neural Accelerators in each core. The chip also has a Dual 16-core Neural Engine and memory bandwidth of up to 170GB/s.

The company made several speed claims. It said the new iMac is up to 18x faster than the most popular Intel-based iMac and up to 5x faster than the M4 version on on-device AI tasks. It also said graphics performance is up to 2x faster than M4 for tasks such as photo editing, and storage is up to 2x faster.

Apple said it ran the tests itself. The M4 comparison used a previous-generation iMac with a 10-core processor, 10-core graphics chip, 32GB of memory and a 2TB drive. Apple said the competitive testing took place in October 2026 using shipping systems and select industry-standard benchmarks.

The iMac has a 24-inch 4.5K Retina display, which Apple lists at 500 nits of brightness. It comes in seven colors: blue, green, pink, yellow, purple, orange and silver. It has a 12-megapixel camera, a three-microphone array, and a color-matched keyboard and mouse or trackpad.

For connections, the iMac has Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6. Models with the 12-core processor and 12-core graphics chip offer 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet and up to four Thunderbolt 4 ports. Apple said the computer can connect to up to two 6K external displays.

The computer runs macOS 27, which Apple calls Golden Gate. The operating system includes Siri AI, which Apple describes as a new version of Siri powered by the next generation of Apple Intelligence. Apple said Siri AI can answer questions, search across messages, emails and photos, and take actions across apps.

Apple’s fine print says Siri AI is available in beta in macOS 27.2. It is offered in English, French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish, and is not available to users under 13. Apple also said some features that rely on server-side models are subject to daily usage limits, and that expanded access “will be available for a fee in the future.” The company did not say what that fee will be.

Apple also said the iMac is made with 100% recycled aluminum in the stand and 100% recycled rare earth elements in all magnets. The company said it is manufactured with 40% renewable electricity across the supply chain.
