Google launched a preview of its Connected Apps Platform, a single place for developers to build and manage apps that work inside Search and the Gemini app. The company announced the launch in a blog post dated Oct. 28, 2026.

According to Google, the platform lets developers build an app once and reach users in both Search and the Gemini app. The company said Connected Apps in those products have made everyday tasks, such as ordering groceries or making playlists, faster and easier.

Google said developers integrate with the platform using a cloud-hosted MCP server or Android MCP, along with the AppFunctions APIs. The post did not explain what MCP stands for. Developers then use the Google Connected Console to register, test and submit their app.

Before an app is reviewed, developers choose whether it will go live in Search, the Gemini app, or both, Google said. After an app is live, developers can track traffic, latency and error rates. Google said they also keep control of their brand identity, including verified logos and authenticated accounts.

Google said it is opening access in phases. It said it will add more developers, markets and Google products over the coming months. Developers can sign up for the preview and read the documentation at developers.google.com/connected-apps.

The company also announced new Connected Apps from partners. Google said it has launched more than 50 Connected Apps across Search and the Gemini app, in areas ranging from productivity and event ticketing to health and fitness.

Integrations with Adobe, Experian, Localiza and Peloton are live for users in the Gemini app, Google said. In the coming weeks, it plans to bring those apps to Search as well. Google also said it will launch a new integration with Calm in both Search and the Gemini app.

The post did not say how many developers are in the preview, which markets are included in the first phase, or when the platform will be open to all developers. It also did not give a date for the Calm integration. Google directed users to its help center pages for Search and the Gemini app for a full list of available Connected Apps.
